Well, I had to retire my Avirex A-2 after many years of faithful service. Being now in my early forties, I found it necessary to accommodate my new size requirements. Jumped up two sizes! Anyway, after reading the reviews here on Flightjacket.com, I purchased a new A-2, in Med Brn Goatskin. Folks, I'm not easy to please and can be very critical. I absolutely demand quality gear no matter what it is. My new A-2 from Authentic exceeds these requirements. Very good leather. Absolutely satisfied with my purchase in every way! Just to let you know, I also purchased a modern goatskin Cooper A-2 this year, a couple of weeks before I got yours. Now, Cooper makes a decent jacket, to be sure, but it is really not comparable to yours, even accounting for the different hide. A direct comparison isn't even really appropriate in that they make no pretense at being a historical representation of a WWII era A-2. Their customer service, while civil, seems indifferent at best. I sent this jacket back to Cooper for shortening the sleeves at the exact same time as I sent yours back. My guess is that you will beat them by a week or two.

And oh, by the way, they charge for shortening the sleeves. Also for return shipping. Not a terrible company to do business by any means, but simply not in your league.

Late last winter I ordered and promptly received the horsehide A-2. Since the time I had to wear it was short, as winter was almost over, I reserved judgment on my satisfaction. Well, I've been wearing it daily since late fall, and I am very pleased with every aspect of this jacket I live in the Chicago area and the cold winds of fall and winter can be bitter. So far, the jacket has been a pleasure to wear and with the addition of a light sweater, it has kept me comfortable.

Having been an active and still current pilot for over 30 years, I have been through my share of flight clothing (I served as an Army Aviator and in the Ill. Air Nat'l Guard for 11 years). Of all the Nomex and leather that I've been through, I really have to say that I actually love my A-2 from U.S. Authentic. Thanks for a great buying experience.

A couple weeks ago after many yrs of cooper jackets I wanted a A-2 in horse hide in Russet color and looking at all the names that make them found for the money your color looked good and worth a shot. Got it in a 48R and although just a tad big it’s outstanding. The color is perfect the way it was in the 40s. Good even color, heavy horsehide, just a very nice jacket for the money. I am in-between a 46 and 48 so with out custom the 48 works. I now find myself wanting one in Goatskin and for a little more than a cooper I want one of your fine jackets. I just received my flying tigers A2 jacket in russet horsehide. The jacket is truly superb as in workmanship and attention to detail. But I want to comment on another issue. Our generation is still alien to internet shopping. Many of us give it a trial and chances are that one is conned. Even testimonies can be faked.That is what I did: I contacted each of the high quality competitors and checked on their products, availability, online order procedures and flexibility. As a result I ended up with flightjacket.I liked their response and response time. They also charged my credit card in record time but not a penny more than agreed upon. I could even change my order last minute over the phone and most impressively they delivered fast; fast as in 13 days weeks from browsing their website and ordering online on 28^th December until putting the jacket on in my house in Kuwait - yes Kuwait today on 11^th January! They worked for me over the Christmas holidays.I guess what I am trying to say is that you can trust flightjacket to deliver what they state on their website - not more not less.

Just wanted to drop ya'll a note about my A2 jacket. It's been cold enough off and on now, and I've been able to wear it almost everyday. (Although on Jan 1 it was about 75 degrees) The more I wear it, the better it looks. I've had a lot of really good comments and I've passed on your website address. I was eating lunch at the Rod and Gun club on Fort Hood, and an Army chaplain told me it was a really good looking jacket and would he mind if he asked where I got it. Being a chaplain, I figured he was a pretty good guy, so I told him it was horsehide, seal brown and where I got it. Hopefully he contacted you.

I'm still going to get some pictures with my CAF squadron's planes and send them to you. I was reading the comments, and I read one where the guy was asking about the RAF flying boots. Do you all know of anyone or where you can get the boots?

Yesterday I received my jacket. I was very impressed with the jacket, the patches and the quality of work. Your folks do excellent work. I was excited and so glad I listened to going with a 46R, vice a larger size. Your representative that recommended the size, based on my height and weight was right on the mark.I will be returning the jacket with patches and name tag back today for sewing. I requested the nametag and 730th BS patch be sewn on the left side of jacket and 729th BS patch be sewn on the right side of jacket. I made an assumption your personnel would place them correctly on the jacket. Did I need to include measurements or anything else?At a future date I hope to still be able to have art work added on the back of the jacket.

As you will recall, I visited your factory personally because I am an odd size and I was not willing to order an expensive jacket without trying it on first. As soon as I saw the obvious quality of your products and tried one on I knew that I had found the A2 of my dreams! My wife and I arrived mid morning and after deciding to add some outside pockets, two inside pockets and my name in gold emboss (on an inside pocket) I was amazed to hear you say that the jacket would be ready that day! When we returned to pick up the jacket I gave it a thorough inspection and was very satisfied. There are no lose threads and all seams are perfect. The additions I requested are straight and well centered, the corners are square and the embossing is centered and straight. Although I chose not to have any artwork on my A2 we had the opportunity to view a sample that you were working on for another customer. You had a jacket back spread out on a table with the picture of a blonde woman applied to it. The photos that you worked from were beside it and I have to say that your art talent is truly fantastic! Anyone who is considering having artwork applied to their jacket should be assured that they will be satisfied. It was clear that you are not set up for visitors so I cannot thank you enough for helping me to ease my mind about the size issue by allowing us to come there personally. I already own two G-1 jackets, one from “Eastman leather clothing” and another from “Branded”. The Eastman jacket is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately damaged beyond repair, and the Branded jacket is, well, not of the same quality. My next project is probably buying a new G-1, and this time, US Authentic is on top of my list.

I have an A-2 jacket of yours and it is the best fitting jacket I've ever worn. The fit is trim and neat. The jacket moves with my body and isn't blousy and flappy. The leather is medium brown goatskin. It is soft and strong, as well as good smelling and not too dark. Thanks to your size suggestion, there is nothing I need to change. When I was a (younger) kid I always wanted a jacket this perfect. Well done!

I have had my A2 for 10 weeks now and I thought that it was about time that I gave the site my views on my purchase. Living in the UK it was hard for me to actually decide to buy unseen but a couple of e mails to flightjacket.com convinced me that I was dealing with a decent outfit. As I was due to holiday in the US they delivered my A2(44T in horsehide) to my Boston hotel saving me $65 in shipping. On returning to the UK the jacket proved to be useful in the worst summer in years. The first trip with the A2 was to Duxford (the premier UK classic warbird location).As you might imagine A2s are pretty common there but mine attracted much favorable comment. Although still young' it is breaking in very nicely and already feels like an old friend. I cannot compare it to other manufacturers' products as I have not had experience of them; all I can say is that a better A2 than that of this company's will be something truly remarkable. When I found your website I wondered why in the world there were so many testimonials to your jackets. Now that I received mine I understand why.

For years what I'd been looking for was an A2 with the same style, size and fit as they had in WWII. I did stumble upon a new/old stock Cooper

I contacted Cooper and, following their instructions, ordered various sizes of their current models of A2. Unfortunately, every one had a contemporary oversized cut to the patterns that did not satisfy. They kindly referred me to the internet and Aero, and I also identified Eastland as manufacturers who were delivering WWII reproductions.

not up to counting stitches or measuring epaulet size to evaluate historical authenticity. In fact, I'd guess that under the pressure of wartime production quotas there was a lot more variation in such things than today's demanding civilian customers would accept. And I don't have tons of money.

But having received my "US Authentic" A2 I can say, finally, finally, finally, finally, I have what I was after. The style is right. The fit is right. The weight of the leather is right. The color is right.

And the service is right: I received the jacket 48h after the phone order. I can't really think of any other buying experience that so well met my hopes.

Your seal brown horsehide A-2 arrived about a month ago. I'm very impressed with (i) the quality of the leather, (ii) the workmanship, (iii) the customer service, and (iv) what others say!

LEATHER: Heavy, I can tell it will last a lifetime, and it's starting to break in and show the grain. It looks and smells great.

WORKMANSHIP: Seams are tight and even. The knits are firmly sewn into the leather. Even though the fit is a bit tight across the back, I think even for an A-2, but I have no fear about the underarms or shoulders bursting. The collar stands up nicely, the zipper tape is tightly sewn in and straight, and zips like greased lightning. The pockets are the right size and distance from the center, and the pocket flaps have the right "graceful curve."

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Here is where no other manufacturer or dealer can touch you!! You answer the phone in 2 rings. You make jackets from scratch and do custom work within a week. Each time I sent you the jacket for something to be done, I had it back in like 4 working days. This happened several times, with an exchange of models, and when I returned the A-2 to get the Flying Tigers leather patches sewn on, and even the more difficult process of getting the white-leather blood-chit antiqued. In each case, it was less than a week between my shipping and my receiving the jacket! That is almost unheard of these days.

WHAT OTHERS SAY: I get lots of comments on this jacket, before and after I returned it to get the Flying Tigers patches sewn on. I've tried A-2's from about every U.S. manufacturer. Your model has the fit that is most like the WWII photos and old WWII movies. I get more comments on this jacket than on any of the other A-2s or G-1s I have. Every time I wear it someone says, "nice jacket," or "looks like the movies."

My Vintage, Horsehide A2 arrived today. It is an absolutely beautiful jacket and EXACTLY what I was expecting. The quality, appearance and fit have far exceeded my expectations. You and your staff produce a phenomenal product. However, that which distinguishes you most from your competition is your extraordinary customer service. I received one of your jackets at Christmas time. A very nice jacket it is! I have ordered and returned a Cooper and a US Wings. They were ok quality and all, but.. Your fit very accurate and your quality is even better. Your A-2 was just what I was looking for.

I respect your owner. I talked with him about a shipping problem I had, I did not get the answer I wanted. I had a lot of stress from the season and I think he did too. You know what, good for you, you stand up for yourself. Your product is so good that if you loose one jerky customer, who cares.

What a shame that when the Air Force revived the leather jacket, they didn't go whole hog and revive this one! There's simply no comparison to be made between the two on even the most casual observation. The leather quality is visibly better on your jacket; and there's enough lining to make it wearable on most winter days. It holds shape better, most noticeably in the stand-up collar. USAuthentic succeeds where the writers of the Air Force specs failed: in keeping alive not just the leather jacket; but the crisp and distinctive style that went with it. And, thankfully, without the "hidden handwarmer pockets" that other suppliers seem to insist on including which, even if they are scrupulously unused, cease being "hidden" within a few hours of wear.

I ordered the russet brown horsehide A-2 jacket from you guys last week and I must say I am very disappointed, I can't find any problems with it!

Sizing, as you know can be a bit of a challenge especially if you can't try before you buy. After speaking to Dover, he made his recommendation of what size the jacket should be and though it sounded a bit off to me I went with it. Well let me tell you, I have never had a jacket fit this good on me. It is now my second skin!

I've wanted an A-2 for a while and I like the 1930's design, though I'm not fanatical about it (heck, I almost bought an A***x, glad I didn't) and after seeing the real WWII jackets over at Acme Depot, the attention to detail in the jacket is about as accurate as it's going to get... amazing & thanks again Dover.

I just received my horsehide russet A-2 and could not be happier! I had a chance over the weekend before my jacket arrived to look at an Avirex and noticed not only that the back was two-piece as compared to your one piece but that it was made in China. Your jacket was waiting for me when I arrived home and boy was I impressed. The weight is just right and will break in to be perfect. The color is stunning and all looks to be first quality. I am glad I purchased it and made it a real flight jacket by wearing it (quite comfortably) aboard my plane. Definitely worth every penny.

I received my second A2 Flight Jacket today. The 42R is the "right" fit! Also the "buttery" leather feel of this goatskin jacket is just what I was looking for!

My father served in WWII and had to turn in his A2 when mustered out in 1945! He wanted to see mine, today and it brought back good memories. He was a single seat "flight instructor" for his time. He went back in, in 1946. He is a Old Pilot(career 23 years-Command Pilot)...as he says there were old pilots, and there were bold pilots, but there were no old bold pilots! His stories emphasize the unforgiving nature of flying.

Received my A2 this morning and am thoroughly delighted. Once again thank you and your team. You have a first rate company. Your products and customer service, in my opinion are second to none, unfortunately all too rare these days.

I have an original A-2 from "the Hump" Theatre of Operations, an Eastman A-2, and a seal brown US Authentic A-2 from the 23rd Fighter Group. The original A-2s were designed to be somewhat "tight in the shoulders" so that the coat actually "rides up" a little both up one's neck and slightly up above the waist. Both the originals and the Eastman A-2 (which is an exact copy) have this feature. The US Authentic, on the other hand, is slightly more "roomy" in the shoulders, so that it is more comfortable. Furthermore, the horsehide is heavier, so that it is warmer during the winter. The leather also has a nice "texture." Not a day goes by, when I wear the US Authentic A-2, that I fail to receive a compliment on it.

BUT I didn’t knew what sizes me fits... SO I just wrote some mails and only some minutes later I got the answers... that's why I ordered an inside pocket (Real good quality) too. The money-transfer via MasterCard was just too simple =) I thought I had to wait some weeks for shipping... BUT NOT FlightJacket.com... I'm from Vienna (AUSTRIA/EUROPE)... only 2 days waiting for the jacket.

Hi there, recently I purchased an horsehide A-2 Russet Jacket from your firm. The quality was first rate and it fit perfectly. I wanted to break it in before I wrote review, however, sadly it was stolen from me after my vehicle was broken into. Evidently there is a well dressed crook roaming around town with my A-2 on! Shameless! I wonder if he realizes that I researched these coats for six months, I wonder if he realizes that I had spent good money and bought the best quality I could find. I highly doubt it and I hope I see it one day soon. Anyway I am saving for another because I refuse to not have an A-2 from U S Authentic! Sincerely and Broken Hearted, Robin Noble fron Canada.
